RULES
- All games are played 4v4 with an even gender-match split
- All games are to 13.
- Endzone to opposite endzone cross-gender completions are worth two (2) points.
- Callahan goals (the defense catching in the opponent’s endzone) are worth two (2) points.
- Stall count is to 8. Contested stall-outs go to 6. Other stoppages above 4 come in at 5.
- There is only a hard cap, no soft cap. The hard cap is at 50 minutes of play.
- When hard cap is reached, finish the current point (if you’re “between points” and preparing to pull/receive, you should play that point). At the end of that point, if one team is ahead, they win; if tied, you play one last point, Universe Point.
- Mirror pull after halftime cap. Halftime should only last 3 minutes.
- Each team gets one timeout per half and it’s 60 seconds long.
- Pulls do not need to be inverted.
- There is no traditional brick mark; instead, all out-of-bounds pulls (in-air or roll-outs) are either: A) centered at mid-field; or B) centered on the receiving team’s endzone line. This is determined by the receiving team player who picks up the OB pull and initiates play with a ground check at either spot.
- The gender ratio is 2:2. Pullers of both gender-match alternate pulling duties.
- Foot blocks are legal, but any kicking of sand into an opponent’s face is an automatic uncontested foul.
- For everyone’s safety, footwear other than booties/sand socks are prohibited; if you require footwear for medical reasons please alert opponents before starting your game.
- All other rules of the game follow USA Ultimate’s current ruleset and Beach Appendix.
- Field Size
- We’re using the dimensions which got great reviews in 2024 & 2025 and are now the official WFDF Beach 4s dimensions!
